Description: Forest Cottage Senior Care is seeking a reliable and experienced Cook to prepare fresh, home-style meals for our residents in a warm, residential assisted living environment. This role is kitchen-only—no caregiving duties required. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a home-style kitchen, understands senior dietary needs, and takes pride in cleanliness, food safety, and consistency.

Duties and Responsibilities: Key Responsibilities

• Meal Preparation
• Prepare breakfast and lunch daily
• Prep dinner for later service
• Prepare lunch and dinner meals for weekends
• Follow resident dietary needs and restrictions as instructed
• Prepare American-style, home-cooked meals with variety and consistency

Kitchen Operations:

• Confidently operate standard home kitchen equipment (stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator/freezer)
• Maintain a clean, organized kitchen throughout the shift
• Food Safety & Compliance
• Check and log refrigerator and freezer temperatures daily
• Discard expired food from all refrigerators and freezers
• Follow food safety and sanitation standards at all times
• Cleaning Duties (After Breakfast & Lunch)
• Sweep and mop the kitchen and dining/eating area
• Clean kitchen counters, sink, and food prep surfaces
• Load and run the dishwasher
• Ensure the kitchen is left clean, sanitized, and organized

What This Role Does NOT Include:

❌ No resident caregiving

❌ No medication assistance

❌ No personal care duties

This is a cook-only position.

Qualifications:

• Experience cooking in a home-style or small community kitchen
• Ability to prepare American-style meals suitable for seniors
• Understanding of basic dietary needs (low sodium, soft foods, etc.)
• Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and food safety
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently
• Comfortable following routines and written instructions
